Community Service
Dedication to community service begins with an introduction of awareness early in Kindergarten, remaining a priority throughout the following thirteen years. Although every BWL student must complete at least sixty hours of community service by graduation, most volunteer above and beyond these requirements. The nurturing atmosphere within the School lends itself to the local and global communities as students earnestly bring their energies to a wide range of worthy causes.

Opportunities to engage in community service at BWL continue to expand each year, so much so that The Community Service Club was formed by students in order to consistently support the dedication to community service endeavors. Personal experiences bring different issues to the attention of our School community, and with each project, students are impacted as profoundly as they, in turn, positively affect others. Students grow to see that they are empowered by the ability to make a positive difference.

Community service activities include participating in drives and events, raising funds, heightening awareness, and visiting locations where mentoring, tutoring or companionship are deeply appreciated. Students may devote their service to virtually innumerable worthy causes, continuously broadening their perspectives.

Our own BWL community remains solidified as the physical and philosophical structure reinforces a general consideration of community. Areas of the School such the The BWL Commons are designed to promote a communal atmosphere for better public discourse during meetings and meals. Individual academic courses, as well as assemblies, often bring subject matters into perspective through open discussion. The Peer Relations Program unites students across different grades, often modeling behavior for real-life dilemmas or challenges that students of all ages might face.BWL will be eternally committed to its longstanding tradition of community service, which inspires its students to discover the lifelong rewards of social responsibility.
