Award-Winning Author to Speak at Book Fair

The BWL Book Fair begins on Wednesday, May 16th, featuring National Book Award Winner Colum McCann. During the parents’ cocktail party on Wednesday evening, McCann will speak about historical fiction. His bestselling novel, Let The Great World Spin, takes place in August of 1974, when tightrope walker Philippe Petit performed an astonishing high-wire act between the Twin Towers. This real-life feat became the backdrop to a brilliant historical novel that won the National Book Award and was hailed by The New York Times Book Review as an “emotional tour de force.” The opportunity to meet Colum McCann is just one of many reasons to attend the Book Fair cocktail party this year. Parents and students also have a chance to purchase summer reading books, participate in a raffle to benefit literacy, and meet visiting children’s book authors during both Book Fair days (May 16th and 17th) from
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
